Day 9: Lessons in Loving a Laird by Michelle Marcos

Welcome to day nine of March SWEET Madness—a month long party to celebrate the upcoming release of my novel, SWEET MADNESS, available April 2, 2013.

One of the best things about this event, at least for me, is hosting favorite authors who also happen to be friends! Michelle Marcos certainly fits that bill for me! We met at my very first Romance Writers of America® conference, just before her first book came out. She was an inspiration to me then and she still is now! Plus, she’s fun to explore Harry Potter world with.

While all of Michelle’s books are divine, I chose to feature Lessons in Loving a Laird—and not just because I like saying the word Laird. Try it. Laird. Awesome! This book was also a RT Book Reviews Top Pick, and I think you’ll love it.

Here is what the book is about:

As rugged and bold as the Scottish hills, the Highland Knaves take no prisoners when it comes to love…

A DEFIANT APPRENTICE

Thrust into indentured servitude as a child, Shona Slayter is counting the days until her twenty-first birthday, when she gains her precious freedom. Unfortunately, the new laird of the estate has other plans—and he’s determined to keep her bound to him. The only way for Shona to be free of her bonds is to marry the man who holds the key. But seducing a handsome laird is not what she was trained for, and the more she tries to win his heart, the more she loses hers.

A HARD MASTER

With a young son to raise and a crumbling Scottish estate to manage, Conall has enough to worry about without the brazen, beautiful Shona challenging him at every turn. But their heated spats are starting to turn into real sparks…and soon the Scottish hills are ablaze with their forbidden attraction. Yet no matter what Shona is willing to do to buy her freedom, Conall has no intention of letting her go…

And now for the fun part—your chance to win! Just fill out the rafflecopter form below. Contest will be open for 2 weeks—US & CANADA only, please).

Sweet Enemy

Beakers and ball gowns don't mix, so when lady chemist, Miss Liliana Claremont, goes undercover as a husband-hunter to investigate Lord Geoffrey Wentworth, the earl whose family she suspects murdered her father, romance isn't part of her formula. But it only takes one kiss to start a reaction she can't control...

Sweet Deception

Lady criminologist, Miss Emma Wallingford, unknowingly finds herself tangled up in the dangerous final mission of Lord Derick Aveline, a spy who also happens to be her long-lost first love. But when deception, however sweet, is the name of the game, no one can be trusted. And every love--and every life--is at risk.

And don’t forget SWEET MADNESS, coming April 2, 2013!

There’s a fine line between love and insanity…

Ever since her husband’s sudden and tragic death, Lady Penelope Bridgeman has committed herself to studying the maladies of the mind, particularly treating traumatized soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars. It is this expertise that brings the Marquess of Bromwich’s family to her door.

Gabriel Devereaux’s unexpected and unpredictable episodes are unlike any Penelope has studied. The once proud soldier has been left shaken and withdrawn, but she manages to build a fragile trust between them. Strangely, Gabriel seems completely lucid when not in the grips of his mania, and in the calm between bouts, she is surprised by how much she is drawn to him.

Despite his own growing feelings, Gabriel knows that he is fit for no one, and is determined to keep Penelope away from his descent into madness. But even though she knows firsthand the folly of loving a broken man, Penelope cannot stop herself from trying to save him, no matter the cost.

  3. I love men in a kilt. I love Scottish romances because they often have a gorgeous Highlander on the book cover and a wonderful adventure.

  17. Hi Heather!

Aren't Michelle's books marvelous! Her books really do transport you back to the Highlands of Scotland and you won't want to return!

I'm so excited that Sweet Madness is being released the beginning of April! Since my husband's birthday is on the 4th I'd better read it fast or his birthday cake won't make it into the oven! If I remember correctly it's to be released on the 2nd so I'd better use a vacation day on the 3rd because otherwise I'll be up all night on Tuesday! Congratulations and I can't wait to read it!

  28. These are some real great Scottie hotties. Gerard Butler looks great in a kilt, but he'd look even better *out* of one! ;) As for Ewan McGregor, have you ever seen him in a nude scene? Let's just say he needs a loooong kilt. But who can turn away a young Sean Connery? Plenty of material there for nocturnal daydreams, I must say. Last week I attended a Scottish Festival in Ft. Lauderdale. All men look great in kilts. We have to start a kilt revolution!
