Welcome to day ten of
March SWEET Madness—a month long party to celebrate the upcoming release of my
novel, SWEET
MADNESS, available April 2, 2013.
You are in for a treat
today. Vanessa Kelly is our featured author, and her writing is simply lovely!
Booklist named her as one of the New Stars of Historical Romance and the book I’ve
chosen for today, My Favorite Countess, was also nominated for a RT Book
Reviews Reviewer’s Choice Award.
Here is what the book
is about:
Spirited, stubborn, and entirely irresistible…
She is difficult, demanding, and at times, quite fierce. And Dr.
John Blackmore can’t take his eyes off her. The Countess of Randolph is the
most striking woman he has ever seen…and the most infuriating patient he has
ever tended.
Mired in responsibility, Bathsheba doesn’t have time to convalesce
in the country. She should be in London, hunting for a wealthy new lover to pay
off her late husband’s vast debts, not dallying with a devastatingly handsome
doctor.
But it is only a matter of time until the good doctor and the
obstinate countess will have to contend with the sparks that fly between them.
Once their bodies surrender, their hearts may follow…

Sweet Enemy
Beakers and ball gowns don't mix, so when lady
chemist, Miss Liliana Claremont, goes undercover as a husband-hunter to
investigate Lord Geoffrey Wentworth, the earl whose family she suspects
murdered her father, romance isn't part of her formula. But it only takes one
kiss to start a reaction she can't control...

Sweet Deception
Lady criminologist, Miss Emma Wallingford, unknowingly finds herself tangled up in the dangerous final mission of Lord Derick Aveline, a spy who also happens to be her long-lost first love. But when deception, however sweet, is the name of the game, no one can be trusted. And every love--and every life--is at risk.

And don’t forget SWEET MADNESS,
coming April 2, 2013!
There’s a fine line between love and insanity…
Ever since her husband’s sudden and tragic
death, Lady Penelope Bridgeman has committed herself to studying the maladies
of the mind, particularly treating traumatized soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars.
It is this expertise that brings the Marquess of Bromwich’s family to her door.
Gabriel Devereaux’s unexpected and
unpredictable episodes are unlike any Penelope has studied. The once proud
soldier has been left shaken and withdrawn, but she manages to build a fragile
trust between them. Strangely, Gabriel seems completely lucid when not in the
grips of his mania, and in the calm between bouts, she is surprised by how much
she is drawn to him.
Despite his own growing feelings, Gabriel knows
that he is fit for no one, and is determined to keep Penelope away from his
descent into madness. But even though she knows firsthand the folly of loving a
broken man, Penelope cannot stop herself from trying to save him, no matter the
cost.

Hello! My favorite is Dr. Julie Lemieux of the french television series called TRAUMA. She is the Head Chief in the Traumatology.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I have never read a story in which there was a doctor!!
I like all the doctors in ER. :) All so nice!
ReplyDeleteDr. "McDreamy" on Gray's Anatomy.
ReplyDeleteI don't have one favorite fictional Dr. Heartthrob...I like reading romance books where are doctors.
ReplyDeleteDr. Mark Sloan from Grey's Anatomy.
ReplyDeleteOh... ER and George Clooney..
ReplyDeleteI like reading romance novels too. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, Dr. Zhivago comes immediately to mind ~ swoon ~ and then there is Doc Martin from the British drama ~ :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway and lovely books! Happy reading ~
Hi Heather and Vanessa!
ReplyDeleteWhile I loved Dr. T.J. Eckebury from The Great Gatsby and Dr. Emet Stone played by Christophr Lloyd in Back to the Future my favorite doctor is Dr. Suess!
I can still remember the day when I was in the 3rd grade in 1952 and the librarian in my grade school sat as down in a circle around her and read Horton Hatches an Egg to us. I can still remember thinking how much fun it was and it was when I became addicted to reading and have been ever since!
During the summer of 1955 I can remember going to the our local small town library and reading every biography in the library of famous women and can still remember reading about Amelia Earhart, Madam Curie as well as multiple other woman who would inspire women to exceed the level that the current society would deem "suitable" for a woman. How far we have come from those days when women were barred from even thinking about entering the fields of medicine, science, serving in the military and many others that today are taken for granted!
Even today I wonder what I would be doing today and where my place in the world would be if reading those books hadn't opened by eyes to the opportunities that weren't the "accepted" occupations for a woman!
I always loved Dr. Kildare in the early '60's TV show.
ReplyDeleteIt's a toss up between Dr. House (for his sarcasm) and Dr. McDreamy (for his looks )

ReplyDeleteBack in the day I liked Dr. Kildare and the other dark-haired-with-brooding eyes doctor series, but the House doctor gets on my nerves and ER was dizzying...and tiresome after a long, hard day at work. And when I was a young mother I did not like the Hospital soap. So I guess I don't really have any doctor-type heroes. But if it was a romance--especially an historical romance-- I think I might change my mind! :-) I love your stories, Vanessa and Heather! jdh2690@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteProbably George Clooney's Dr. Ross. I also like Zach Braff's J.D. from Scrubs.
ReplyDeleteHi, ladies! Don't you just love doctor heroes? They're so sexy with their "I can cure all your problems" vibe. Plus, I find kindness and compassion to be a very appealing part of it, too.
ReplyDeleteI never got into the show ER or Grey's Anatomy. So I don't have any picks from a contemporaneous show. I just read about a good doctor in Meredith Duran's latest novel, That Scandalous Summer.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved television doctor shows, George Clooney's Dr Ross, Patrick Dempsey's Dr Shepherd and Eric Dane's Mark Sloan are all favorites. In books I liked Eloisa James' Piers Yelverton, Earl of Marchant, who is a brilliant doctor but very irascible and hard to get along with due to his injured leg.
ReplyDeleteMarcus Welby MD, he cared about his patients.
ReplyDeleteHouse and Mark Harmon's Dr. Robert Caldwell on St. Elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteDr. MacDreamy Dirk from Grey's Anatomy.

House
ReplyDeletei'm terrible at remembering things like this when asked but dr gonzo gates from the tv show trapper john md was a fave sexy doc (showing my age a little) & dick van dyke played a sleuthing doc on a series but catn' remember the name, while not a romantic hero so much, he was sweet, smart & funny which are great hero characteristics :)
ReplyDeleteHouse :) Smarts, scruff, and sarcasm are hard to resist:)
ReplyDeleteI always liked the MASH doctors Hawkeye & BJ
ReplyDeleteDr. McDreamy (Grey's Anatomey) and Hawkeye Pierce (MASH).
ReplyDeleteMarcy Shuler
bmndshuler(at)hotmail(dot)com
Dr. McCoy and Dr. Who! Hearthrob doctor would be Patrick Dempsey's character!
ReplyDeleteI really like House. Even though he's a total asshole he does have a heart in there somewhere. He's pretty good looking for an older man, too.
ReplyDeleteI can't really think of a certain Dr. that stands out. I liked ER, Grey's Anatomy, and MASH.
ReplyDeleteFavorite fictional doctor would be Eidolon from Larissa Ione's Demonica series.
ReplyDeleteI have to go with Derek Shepard aka McDreamy.
ReplyDeleteArantza
James Herriot from "All Creatures Great and Small"
ReplyDeleteYes, he's a vet and treats animals, and I don't guess he's really a romantic figure, but I've just always remembered how his stories were wonderful, funny, and sad.
My favorite doctor is from the book titled A Summer Affair by Susan Wiggs. The character hero is Blue Calhoun. Great read.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite doctor would be Marcus Welby, MD.
ReplyDeleteThese are all such great ones! I was a huge fan of Dr. Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap...not necessarily a medical doctor, but boy, did I like him
ReplyDeleteI have to go with Grey's Anatomy too. Mr. McDreamy ;) I can't really think of any others at the moment. I enjoy watching reruns of Dr. Quinn medicine woman. She's not my hero but she might make a great heroine.
ReplyDeleteFavorite tv dr(s) have to be scrubs. they're all so funny!
ReplyDeleteI love Vanessa's books. She always has such beautiful covers too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post!
I use to really like Dr. Green on the show ER I Stopped watching it after his death, but I thought his character was really good
